Narrowing down the competition
When potential clients use search engines to look for information on websites, they will find more website listings (more results) when the clients look for general terms. For example, if they search Google for “doctors”, they will find many, many listings. If they narrow their search, to look for doctors in New York City (i.e., searching for: “doctors new york city”) they will find fewer doctors’ websites listed. And if you are one of those doctors, your opportunity to gain a new client has just improved, because your competition has been reduced.
Make your topic more specific to stand out on the web.
The same concept can work for you and your website if you pick a topic for your website that is more specific about the business or product or subject of your website.
For example:
Topics:
- Coin
- Pets
Refined Topics:
- Mercury head dimes
- Red Cocker Spaniel Puppies
With an effective topic for your website, you reduce the number of competing websites, and you improve your opportunity of gaining new clients.
